Abstract

Productivity is an important aspect of the sustainability of coconut farming, but its achievement is not determined solely by farmers’ ability to manage production factors. The use of technology, government support, and social capital may also influence farmers’ capacity to manage their farming activities more effectively. This study aims to examine the effects of technology, government support, and social capital on the productivity of coconut farmers in Poso Pesisir Selatan District, Poso Regency. The study was conducted from June to August 2026 involving 100 coconut farmers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS. The results indicate that technology has a positive and significant effect on coconut farmers’ productivity, with a path coefficient of 0.264, a t-statistic of 2.695, and a p-value of 0.007. Government support also has a positive and significant effect, with a path coefficient of 0.216, a t-statistic of 2.200, and a p-value of 0.028. Similarly, social capital has a positive and significant effect on productivity, with a path coefficient of 0.213, a t-statistic of 2.050, and a p-value of 0.041. The R-square value of 0.213 indicates that the three independent variables jointly explain 21.3% of the variation in coconut farmers’ productivity. These findings suggest that improving coconut farm productivity requires not only strengthening technological capacity but also enhancing government institutional support and social relationships among farming stakeholders.
